Eyes: Large, almond-shaped; very dark, with flecks of gold according to her mood.
Nose: Straight, thin, rather sharp.
Mouth: Small; of average fullness; slightly downturned at the corners; light mauve in color.
Ears: Relatively small; extremely frilled.
Overall face: Oval, with pronounced cheekbones; a bit sharp and severe-looking.
Skin shade: Light rose-gold.
Distinctions: Gills beginning just below the ears; webbed fingers; fins along the sides of the forearms; long, muscled tail, silver in color with light lavender tint beginning along the back ridge and gradually spreading and deepening in color until it reaches the rear fluke, which is entirely pale on the underside and deep violet on the outer surface.
Build: Streamlined, with well-developed muscles, much like a professional female basketball player.
Voice: When speaking, low and a bit rough -- deadpan, with very little emotion. When singing, a surprisingly clear and versatile soprano.
Colors: She wears only white -- it's an odd kick.
Clothes: A simple white vest, laced up the front.
Jewelry: A white shell choker, with matching armbands and garland around the waist.
Weapons/tools: She carries no weapons, but she is never without her guitar (she made it herself, and she's quite proud).
History: Amhranai had an unhappy family life -- her mother died of some strange, unique ailment shortly after she was born, and her emotionally distant father and rather spoiled older sister treated her poorly. The sister delighted in tormenting her; the father, when he paid attention at all, merely told her to mind her sister. She spent as much time as possible at the home of her aunt, Maylei, and her lifemate Anta. One day, after a particularly cruel and elaborate prank involving her sister's handsome best friend and a false seduction, she went to live with Maylei permanently. There she met Anta's father, an old loner no-one paid much mind to. He took a liking to Amhranai, however, and would pass the time telling her old stories and teaching her old songs. Amhranai showed a remarkable talent for memorization, as well as spur-of-the-moment composition. He told her that at one point all the experiences of the People (as he called them) were recorded by devoted chroniclers in the form of songs and stories, but that over the years this tradition had fallen by the wayside. It was his hope that Amhranai would revive the tradition. After his passing, she took this task to heart, and has assumed the status of a silent chronicler, living on the fringe of the Holt's activity and recording all that occurs. Not long ago, Raika went off to explore dry land without telling anyone where she was going; her father, in an unprecedented fit of concern, went off to find her. It's entirely possible they're both doing wonderfully; it's equally possible that they're dead. Since the disappearance, Amhranai has become a bit more active in the Holt's daily life.
Magic: Sending; precognition (she sometimes has odd premonitions concerning what's just about to happen)
Personality: Passionate soul hidden beneath a reserved, even cold exterior. Intense nature, but this is only expressed through her art. Otherwise, she's rather sarcastic and deadpan, and insists on doing things the rational way. She can also be rather bossy when the occasion arises -- she doesn't like to lose control in any way, under any circumstances. She has a deep-seated sense of morality, however, and will go out of her way to do the right thing. For all her professed rationality, she has problems letting go of her principles for the sake of practicality. When she believes in something (or someone), she believes passionately; when she disagrees with a person or a position, it's the same way. When she does let go and bare her soul to someone, it's a veritable tidal wave of emotion, and she leaves herself wide open to being hurt.
Skills: Singing; playing the guitar; composing; a sort of aquatic yoga which can also be used as a bare-hands self-defense.
Dislikes: Conservatism; greed; ignorance; loneliness (though she'd never admit it).
Sees Self As:
Outlook on life: Stand by your beliefs, but never believe blindly; the pain of one is the pain of all, and the joy of one gives joy to all; never give up once you've made a stand.
Important To Remember: Deep down, Amhranai is very lonely. She's compassionate, passionate, and has a strong maternal instinct; however, she believes that to show these things freely would be a sign of weakness. She's looking for someone to love -- however, she'll automatically rebuff anyone
she perceives as trying too hard to get close to her.
